Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect through the website bisericaortodoxaromanabristol.org.uk, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what your rights are. We comply with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

The data controller is the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen, Bristol, based at St Thomas the Martyr Church, 1 Thomas Lane, Redcliffe, Bristol BS1 6QR, United Kingdom. The parish belongs to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Western and Southern Europe).

For any question about your data, please write to preotioan@bisericaortodoxaromanabristol.org.uk.

What data we collect and why

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number and message. We use them only to reply to you and to stay in touch about your request (for example information about services, the Holy Sacraments or parish activities). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to messages we receive or, where applicable, steps taken at your request.

Messages are delivered by email to the parish. We keep them for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of the conversation, but no longer than 24 months, after which we delete them.

Donations

Online donations are made through the ChurchSuite platform, on its own website. The data you enter there (including payment details) is processed by ChurchSuite and its payment processor under their own privacy policies. Our website does not collect or store card details.

Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics, through the Google Site Kit plugin, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are read. Google Analytics only runs if you give your consent in the cookie banner. If you decline, we do not collect statistics about your visit. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Website security

To protect the site against attacks and spam, our security systems (Wordfence, Imunify and Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form) process your IP address and technical information about your device and browser. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure. Security logs are kept for a limited period set by these systems.

Third-party content

The site shows a Google Maps map (loaded only after you consent in the cookie banner) and uses Google Fonts. When these load, Google receives your device’s IP address. The links to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube are simple links to the parish pages. If you follow them, those platforms’ privacy policies apply.

Cookies

Information about the cookies we use and how to manage your consent is in our Cookie Policy. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage consent” button in the corner of the page.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your data. It may be processed on our behalf by the providers that help us operate: our website hosting company, our email provider, Google (Analytics, Maps, reCAPTCHA, Fonts) and ChurchSuite for donations. Some of these providers may transfer data outside the UK (for example to the USA), with the safeguards required by law.

Your rights

Under UK law, you have the right to:

  • find out what data we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict or object to processing;
  • ask for your data to be transferred (portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

For any of these requests, please write to preotioan@bisericaortodoxaromanabristol.org.uk. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection authority: ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the way the site works changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
